Chicago-based world music group Funkadesi will perform a free concert for all ages from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 17 outside the Levy Senior Center in Evanston.

Named “Best Music Group in the World” by the Chicago Reader and “Most Outstanding Group” by the Chicago Music Awards, Funkadesi mixes Indian music – bhangra, Bollywood, Indian folk – with reggae, funk and afro grooves. Thanks to the support of the Levy Senior Center Foundation, this Jamming Jean Music Series concert is free and open to the public. The Jamming Jean musical series, named after a former member of the Levy Center, features music and musicians who reflect Evanston and his cultural diversity.

These lively concerts appeal to all ages. Cocina Azteca dishes and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase. Guests are kindly requested to bring blankets or chairs and may bring their own drinks for this outdoor event at the senior center at 300 Dodge St. in Evanston.
