Liam Gallagher talks about his 2022 Knebworth Park concert
In August 2019, Liam Gallagher teased fans by tweeting: “Any body fancy knebworth nxt been go, you know”
As the pandemic has ended huge live events across the country in 2020, Liam Gallagher will play Knebworth next summer.
October 1, swagger Rock’n’roll star the singer has confirmed a massive show at Hertfordshire’s stately rock home – and the release of a new studio album, titled GO YOU KNOW.
Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will return to Knebworth Park on Saturday June 4, 2022 during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend, to headline the famous rock hall.
Oasis celebrated this summer the 25th anniversary of its Knebworth’s legendary concerts with a feature-length concert documentary.
The definitive live album of these flagship shows, ‘Oasis Knebworth 1996’, releases November 19.
Of those two landmark gigs, Liam said, “Knebworth was the Woodstock of the 90s to me. It was all about the music and the people.
“I don’t remember much about it, but I will never forget it. It was biblical.”
Over a quarter of a century, Liam returns to the Hertfordshire countryside – minus his brother Noel and the rest of Oasis – for the biggest solo show of his career to date.
At the Oasis concerts in Knebworth in 1996, Noel said, “This is history, this is history. Here, now. This is history.”
Liam replied: “I thought it was Knebworth …”
Speaking to Chris Moyles on his morning show on Radio X Friday, Liam Gallagher said of his Knebworth 2022 gig: “It’s gonna be ‘This is history’ – Part Two, buddy!”
He added: “Young people want it. They always tell me, when are you going to do that Knebworth thing? I think the time is right or never.”
And he intends to “milk” the occasion this time around, having largely forgotten about the weekend of 1996.
Liam continued, “I’m excited. I’ve done this before and it was mega.
“And the beautiful thing about it is that – obviously, I don’t remember that much – but I got the chance to do it again.
“And obviously I’m older and a little wiser and I’m going to milk him, you know what I mean?”
“I’m really going to take it too. I’m buzzing man. It’s like I said, it’s now or never, you know what I mean?
“If I don’t do it now, I never will.”
Tickets go on general sale on Friday October 8. Those who pre-ordered Liam’s new album before 3 p.m. on Wednesday October 6, get exclusive access to a presale starting Thursday.
Liam told DJ Moyles: “We’re not kidding.
“That’s it, the hour is near as they say.
“We’ve had a few terrible years, everyone and stuff.
“I have a new album coming out and I’m just going to try to release it.
“I feel like I can deliver it on my own, obviously with the band like that. I just think it’s gonna blow up mate.
“I think people want it.
“I actually know they want it!
Liam Gallagher will be joined at Knebworth Park next summer by Leicester rockers Kasabian, and special guest Mercury Prize winner Michael Kiwanuka.
Other supporting groups are rock band Peckham Fat White Family and London post-punk band Goat Girl.
And on Chris Moyles’ Radio X show, Liam has confirmed a track from Oasis that will definitely be on the setlist.
Oasis did not play Rock’n’roll star at Knebworth in 1996. But Knebworth fans next year should hear Definitely maybe opening track.
Liam said: “Apparently we don’t have [play it], but this time I’m going to play it. “
Liam Gallagher’s new album ‘COME YOU KNOW’ released on May 27, 2022.
