Jimmy Eat World Shares Homecoming Track, “Something Loud”
Jimmy Eat World goes back to basics with new self-released track, “Something Loud”; Touring this fall
Alt/punk/emo band based in Arizona Jimmy eat people recently returned with a new track, pre-guitar “Something Loud”.
An aptly named burst of energy, the song showcases the band’s talent for compelling songwriting, with frontman Jim Adkins leading the way as always with his passionate vocals and thoughtful lyrical approach.
A press release mentions that Jimmy Eat World was particularly invigorated by the excitement surrounding the announcement of Live Nation’s When We Were Young festival, the retro gig featuring a number of heavyweights from the punk/emo scene. /Warped Tour of the early 2000s, which will meet in Las Vegas in October (including Jimmy Eat World). The intense online excitement surrounding the festival’s initial announcement spawned additional dates and, according to the publication, “triggered a period of deep personal and professional reflection”:
“While I thought I made the most of the early days of the band, I now realize that I missed some things,” Adkins said. “You are in such a rush to get out of those great years. Like shit together is gonna magically happen when you reach an age you thought you were “adult”. Yeah, it doesn’t work that way. But perhaps what age and experience reveal is that pivotal moments are hard to capture when you’re there.
Many thanks to everyone who checked out SOMETHING LOUD. We’re glad you did. I can’t wait to play it live for all of you. 🤘
