Girl group MARA unveil cover of Philip Vella’s “X’Jimpurtani”

Girl group Mara released their version of Philip Vella X’Jimpurtani.

The band premiered their first version of the song during the second edition of Mużika Mużika – Classics Night.

Vella said he didn’t know who he would be dueting with, so he was surprised to learn that he would be singing with MARA. “I knew the song would appeal to audiences, but I think it was that particular rendition that really stood out,” Vella said.

After the festival, MARA started recording original material and had the idea to record X’Jimpurtani.

X’Jimpurtani is written by Mario Fenech Caruana, with Philip Vella having composed the music. Originally performed by Vella himself, the song was originally released by the YTC as part of the compilation album accompanying the 20th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu, in 1995.

“27 years later, and I can confirm that this song is one of the most requested in my repertoire, even by foreigners”, says the singer-songwriter, who is also the originator of the group’s concept. of MARA girls.

From today June 1st, X’Jimpurtani is available to stream or purchase on all major digital platforms including Spotify, Deezer, Google Play, Amazon and iTunes thanks to Manfred Holz of CAP-Sounds and Marc Calleja Bayliss of Ironic PR & Artist Management.
