CM Punk Rings Out Colt Cabana, Adam Page During AEW All Out Media Scrum

AEW All Out ended with local hero CM Punk holding the World Championship high above his head. And while MJF’s massive comeback got everyone talking, Punk talked a lot about himself.

AEW held a post-show media scrum following the conclusion of All Out. Media scrum is not a rarity for the company. Owner Tony Khan even does this for Ring of Honor, the other promotion he owns.

However, what is rare is the type of sound bites we received on Sunday night. Punk and Khan sat down and answered questions from reporters. A restless AEW World Champion got a few things on his chest.

First, Punk commented on recent reports regarding Colt Cabana. Punk’s attitude towards Cabana, his former best friend, is said to be one of the main reasons new champion and “Hangman” Adam Page don’t like each other.

“Why I’m a grown adult and decide not to be friends with someone is nobody’s business”, Punk began. “My friends, if I fall backwards, will catch me. Scott Colton, I thought I never would. Punk said using Cabana’s real name.

Punk and Cabana had a falling out several years ago after a legal battle with WWE. The battle came after comments Punk made on Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast in 2014. The comments were about Punk leaving WWE.

The AEW World Champion spoke on his own about their falling out, but maintained that he didn’t care where Cabana worked or what he did.

“My relationship with Scott Colton ended long before I paid all his bills,” Punk told the media. “I have all the receipts, I have all the bills and all the e-mails. I have the e-mail that says, and I quote ‘I agree to separate, I will have my own lawyer and you won’t have to pay anymore.”

“The only reason the public didn’t see was because when I had to sue him, we found out he shared a bank account with his mother,” Punk revealed.

Punk directed a lot of anger at the company’s executive vice presidents. While no names have been dropped, we do know that the company’s executive vice presidents are Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.

“I have to sit here because we have irresponsible people calling themselves EVPs who can’t f-king handle a target,” Punk said. “They spread lies and said in the media that I had someone fired when I had everything to do with them.”

Punk finally commented on Page and made his unexpected call to the former AEW World Champion. He did not hold back in his words.

“What in the world did I do to deserve a fucking idiot like ‘Hanged Man’ Adam Page to go on national television and go into business?” said Punk. The AEW World Champion later said he was “defending himself”, with his call out to Page.

It is not clear if these comments are a work. If they are not, they present a rather bad image for the company. The Corporate World Champion just buried the men who built AEW. And the owner of said company just watched everything fall apart without intervening.

Regardless, these comments will do nothing to quell the rumblings and rumors of drama in the AEW locker room. Only time will tell if this is a huge story or if it will blow up in the company’s face.
