Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Central Florida
ORLANDO, Florida – Hispanic Heritage Month is in full swing. So you’re probably looking for events and activities that will help you discover and celebrate the cultures that have added such richness to the makeup of Central Florida.
The good news is that no matter what you like, there are plenty of exciting things going to happen over the next month – something for everyone. Click on the name of the event for details and tickets.
Arts and Heritage Center celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month – September 17
Featured artists from Central Florida, Marisela Rodriguez, Jose Pardo, Ralph Aguirre, and Nelson Cardenas take the everyday life of Hispanic culture and turn it into enchanting and living masterpieces.
Many other artists will be in attendance at the Oakland Center and local band ATTO Music Project will be offering live music at the opening event.
Puerto Rican Parade and Festival in Florida – September 18
It usually takes place in April, but there is a full week of activities starting September 10. As part of a statewide Puerto Rican Parade initiative, the fun will also continue with food, live music, vendors and crafts.
Ritmo del Sol: A Celebration of Latin Jazz – September 18
CFCArts Big Band presents this event to Apopka. Be inspired by this fun, vibrant and energetic party of various musical styles – salsa, samba, Afro-Cuban bop, bossa nova, and more – from some of Latin jazz’s greatest artists.
Smithsonian Museums Day: Celebrating Latin American Arts and Culture – September 18
A celebration of Latin American arts and culture! Several artists from Central Florida will be in attendance, representing a variety of Latin American countries, exhibiting and selling their work. Meet and greet the artists, watch live art demonstrations, and bring the kids as they will have activities and crafts for the whole family.
Fiesta Latina: Hispanic Heritage Dance – September 25
Latin music with a group of 10 musicians bringing old-fashioned salsa, merengue, bachata and boleros to Orlando.
Nona Lake Social Hispanic Heritage Festival – September 25
The event features delicious, authentic meals from at least seven different countries, see a cooking demonstration, and enjoy a kids’ zone with live music!
Salsa y Sazón Latin Food and Music Festival – September 26
This year, it will take place at the Parc du Festival. The festival is aimed at all ages with all kinds of music and flavors to discover. There is also an area for children.
City of Orlando’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration event – October 12
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz will celebrate the diversity of our community at the Amway Center. The event is free and will also include Latin food, music, and entertainment.
Noche de Esperanza: A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope – October 14
The Hispanic Heritage Month Youth Leadership Awards Ceremony, Dinner and Big Month End Celebration.
Calle Orange Festival – October 24
This festival will take over downtown Orlando with dozens of performers, three stages featuring salsa, merengue and bachata, as well as traditional Latin food and drink in more than 10 blocks.
Hispanic Heritage Month Art Show – Sept.-Oct. 28
The exhibits will take place in multiple locations and feature traditional dresses and artwork showcasing Hispanic culture by local artists from central Florida.
Latin American / Latinx Film Festival – September to November
The festival will present six different films from various countries.
Hispanic Heritage Celebration at Orange County Public Library – Ongoing
All kinds of events for kids including virtual and in-person events focused on arts and crafts, food, stories and more with the aim of educating children in many countries.
Viva Osceola 2021 – October 9
The Kissimmee / Osceola County Chamber of Commerce celebrates the 29th annual event with live performances by Lalo Rodriguez and Edwin el Calvito Reyes y Orquesta Fuego.
Hispanic Heritage Month Networking Event – October 14
Networking opportunity by Gionis, Lilly & Romero, PLLC with the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce of Central Florida and Opera Orlando. We encourage you to bring business cards and to enjoy great food, drink and music.
Hablemos Más – last Tuesday of each month
A peer-led support group for Latin American and Hispanic communities to start conversations about mental health while building friendships.
Hispanic Heritage Month: Art in Public Places – Sept. 3-Nov. 5
Local artists exhibiting this year are Veronica Garcia, Crummy Gummy, Marisela Rodriguez, Michelle Irizarry and Jenn Bolanos. The City of Kissimmee Commission celebrates the life and culture of the Hispanic / Latinx community residing in our city and throughout Central Florida.
25th Annual Latin Festival – October 10
The event features over 40 vendors, freebies, and plenty of Latin food, music, art, and entertainment.
Viva Brevard – October 9
This annual festival features live music, food, a kids’ zone, exhibitors, a trade show and more.
Unidos en la Musica: a Latin American festival – September 25
In partnership with the Hispanic American Club of Palm Coast, Latin Community Services is organizing the event with shows, dinner and dessert.
COUNTY OF MARION
Annual Hispanic Heritage Music and Dance – September 17
A free, family-friendly event full of dancing and singing in Ocala.
