‘Sufficient’ is an ode to lost lovers in which Kat continues to explore the darker angles of an unhealthy relationship. The new cut follows recently released singles, the vulnerable synthwave slow jam, ‘I am nothing’, who found the talented artist at her most intimate and vulnerable, and debut single ‘Exorcism’Defined by Billboard as “a darkwave bop about love, loss and change” – which unveiled the recurring theme of the album, in Kat’s own words; “‘Love Made Me Do It’ is a collection of all my desperate romantic thoughts poured into an album.” Talk to American songwriter, Kat revealed; “it’s being able to tap into those feelings of codependency or madness without actually living in them. Although most of the songs were written during a time of depression, it is definitely not where I want to live, but there is also a beauty, a vulnerability and a strength to it. I’m not ashamed to write down my mistakes. I have so many. T

speaking about the new single, Kat reveals; “It was written by Chris Brenner, Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails introduced us. They had actually worked on the song together, but they had never done anything with it. It’s one of the only two songs I didn’t write on the album. When I told Chris about it, he said, ‘This was my big breakup song. The words of the intro are: “Dove to the bottom of the dark blue sea in search of any traces that remain of me”. I love this idea. You tend to get lost in relationships, good or bad. You think about yourself and why you stayed. It’s a testament to our willingness to stay in crappy relationships.

“Love made me do it” is at the heart of Kat’s universe, proving that music is her first and strongest passion. Classically trained pianist since his youth with a deep appreciation for music of all genres, Kat poured her soul into this long awaited debut album. The project includes collaborators including Dave Grohl, Linda Perry, Dave Sitek (TV on radio), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails), Ladyhawke and Charo.

Long before historic tattoos, ubiquitous TV shows, bestselling books, and an influential beauty empire, Kat Von D would sit at the piano for almost two hours a day and play. Essentially, music has become his first creative language and his most trusted outlet. A classical training and a deep appreciation of music of all kinds have essentially marked his life. She studied voice with Ken Tamplin six days a week, strengthening his voice. In 2012, she began writing with GRAMMY® Award nominee Linda Perry. After this experience, Kat continued to write on her own, sitting at the piano and invoking songs from raw emotions. In 2014, she moved to London to record the original mix for what would become her debut album. “Love made me do it” (KVD / Kartel Music Group) before cementing it with his group – Gregg Foreman AKA M. Pharmacist (synth 1 /Cat power, Gossip), Sammi doll (synth 2 /I AM X), Dave parley (drums /Prayers), and Show directions Brynn (contortionist). They moved into a bungalow on his property, lived together and finished the record. Complete the process, Dan Haigh of Gunboat mixture handled. A pastiche of shapeshifting analog synths, post-punk dreamy landscapes, gothic hues and shy pop magnetism, these eleven songs echo the eternal will of broken hearts to love until death.
