Hoppus took the news on their Twitch feed, in which an archived link will be provided here. The comments on YouTube were very heartbreaking, but there were also some uplifting ones. For the latter, one user wrote, “Mark has this, he has genes that beat his mother’s cancer,” which also caught the attention of the YouTube user who uploaded the video.

Some are rightly worried and pessimistic, as another put it: “He says, ‘if he beats this cancer.’ The mortality in this sentence is so final. I see children in the hospital where I work who couldn’t even do everything regular people do because of cancer. Cancer is just fucking hell. Be strong man. “

On Twitter, a sad fan wrote: “I just heard that Mark Hoppus has cancer and literally sobbed. So many thoughts and prayers for him and his doctors.”
